Wyrmhead Effigy

A warding effigy

Origin

There are forms of watchfulness that do not require sleep like humanoids do.
Not enforced, not commanded, but inherent.

The Wyrmhead Effigy is shaped in the likeness of an ancient dragon. Its eye half-lidded, yet never truly at rest. Such effigies were not created as symbols, but as instruments of presence.

They were placed where oversight could not fail: vaults, war chambers, halls where a single missed detail carried consequence.

It is said the form itself is enough. That something in the structure recalls an older instinct. One that does not act, but observes without interruption.

Nature of the Effigy

The effigy does not bind. It pervades.

It requires:
• placement
• stillness
• a defined space

It anchors to locations only.

Ritual Use

To engage the effigy:

  1. Position it within the space you wish to affect
  2. Define the boundaries of that space with intent
  3. Leave the effigy undisturbed

The influence settles gradually.
It does not announce its presence.

To Release the Effect

Remove the effigy from the space or disrupt its placement entirely.
Once displaced, the influence dissipates over time.

Caution: when the ritual is disrupted, al who were under its influence may experience extreme fatigue. Depending on how long they stayed within its gazing reach.

Manifestation

The effect is not visible. It is perceptual.

Within the defined space, a subtle shift takes hold:

• attention sharpens without effort
• small inconsistencies become difficult to ignore
• concealed details feel easier to notice
• careless actions seem immediately exposed

There is no voice, no directive.
Only the persistent sense that nothing passes unseen.

Influence

The effigy does not enforce behavior. It alters awareness.

Those within its range may experience:

• heightened caution in movement and decision-making
• increased sensitivity to irregularities or hidden intent
• reluctance to act without certainty
• a growing awareness of their own actions as if observed

Over time, this may develop into:

• unease in stillness
• difficulty relaxing within the space
• the persistent impression of being watched

Limitations

• The effect is bound to a defined area only
• Its influence is gradual, not immediate
• It does not act, only enhances perception
• Removing, blindfolding or relocating the effigy ends the effect
• The range is finite and centered on placement

It does not protect.
It does not intervene.
It ensures that nothing goes unnoticed.
