Reveal its name and what it does...
Torchlight of Waning Force
Origin
Before strength is tested… it gathers.
There exists a quieter force than fortune. One that does not dictate victory, but nurtures the will to pursue it. Yet resolve is not constant. Like a flame, it rises and falls. Taper of waning force is said to embody that principle.
Not luck.
But shifting resolve.
Its gift is never absent, though its intensity is never fixed. Those familiar with such workings claim the flame continually renews the strength it grants, each renewal settling at a different measure.
Nature
The candle does not alter fate.
It strengthens the spirit that confronts it.
It requires:
- a flame
- focus
- a defined name
It binds only to individuals (wielder can be bound)
A place cannot be anchored.
Manifestation
When bound, the candle nourishes the anchor's inner resolve.
The strength granted is never constant.
At moments, determination burns fiercely, carrying effort beyond expectation. At others, only a quiet resilience remains. Though the blessing continually renews itself, its measure is never known beforehand.
Over time, the anchored individual may experience:
- moments of exceptional confidence and conviction
- renewed determination after hardship
- bursts of extraordinary perseverance
- quieter periods where only a subtle strengthening is felt
The boon continually shifts between these states.
No one, not even the wielder, can predict when the flame will burn brightest.
Limitations
- The candle binds to one individual at a time.
- It has no influence without an active flame.
- The strength it grants is continually renewed at unpredictable levels.
- It does not guarantee success, only strengthens the resolve to pursue it.
- Rebinding requires extinguishing and relighting.
It is not a tool of certainty.
It is a tool of ever-changing resolve.
